Travelling to the Netherlands is relatively easy as it is in the Schengen Agreement zone. Obtaining a visa to enter one Schengen State automatically entitles you to travel to and from all the other Schengen countries. Maximum visa duration is three months. The Schengen states are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland). Please note: the UK and the Republic of Ireland are NOT in this agreement.
If you need a visa to enter the Netherlands, you must contact the nearest Dutch mission to your country of residence: a list of embassies and consulates. It is recommended you start applying at least three months before the intended date of travel. You can also call the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague on + 31 70 348 4844.
The documents you need vary depending on where you live, please check the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for comprehensive details about visa requirements.
Note: if another Schengen state is your main destination: you must apply to the consular authority of that country. If your stay in various Schengen states is of equal length, you must apply to the consular authority of the country through which you enter the Schengen Area.
